A Second Vote Would Set The Marketplace Cutover

On Oct. 26, 2026, governance voting began on a plan for a decentralized cloud computing network to give up its own chain and use Solana.
On Oct. 26, 2026, governance voting began on a plan for a decentralized cloud computing network to give up its own chain and use Solana.
Early Results
Holders can still vote until 10:02 a.m. ET on Nov. 2, 2026.
Akash is the network at issue, a marketplace in which computing power is rented.
The chain it uses today is akashnet-2, a standalone chain assembled with Cosmos tooling. The Oct. 27 tally stood at near 98% in favor.
Turnout was already above quorum, although the numbers may still change.
Portal And Token Details
A yes outcome would let AKT launch natively on Solana. It would use SPL, the common token standard on Solana.
A one-way portal would handle AKT transfers one for one. Tokens that are sent exit the old chain, which keeps the total unchanged. The token retains both its ticker as well as six decimals.
A portal move cannot be undone by anyone. The Solana version stays offline until the vote passes and two audits have been completed.
The team will give the date when it is set.
Holder Steps
Holders who self-custody link a Cosmos wallet and choose a Solana address. SOL is not required for the transfer.
AKT living on other Cosmos-linked chains has to return to akashnet-2 first.
Only AKT from the home chain is accepted by the portal under the proposal. Exchanges transfer customer balances on their own timelines.
Console wallets move automatically by default.
Selection Background
The team issued a public call for a host chain back on Dec. 15, 2025.
Both Solana and one Ethereum layer-2 cleared every hard requirement in the review. Solana was the team’s pick, and the reasons were explained in a post on Oct. 26, 2026.
It named lower costs under load, the lack of a single operator and peer infrastructure networks. The network would not operate a chain of its own on Solana after the move. Solana’s validator set would confirm the network’s transactions after the switch.
Engineering and audit support was put on the table by the Solana Foundation to the team. The team noted that it does not depend on that help, in its words.
What Stays Put
This proposal does not relocate the marketplace at this stage. Live leases and governance remain on akashnet-2 as before. The marketplace shift is not live before audits, rehearsals and a separate cutover vote clear.
A separate later vote would fix when cutover occurs ahead of time. After cutover, new workloads would be created on Solana instead of the old chain.
The older chain would taper off and then halt eventually.
Providers would have to update software and re-register on Solana on their own. Tenants hold on to their deployment files through the move.
Validators would lose that role at the halt for good.
Other Details
After launch, wallets and exchanges may add Solana AKT as they see fit. It could come earlier than the marketplace move as the steps are independent.
Solana is where other infrastructure networks went after leaving their own chains earlier. The team described that as a tested path for networks like this. Governance keeps the power to stop the marketplace cutover until just before it takes place.
Token moves cannot be reversed after the portal opens for any holder.
Why Holders Care
Holders are choosing whether a working network gives up its own chain through their ballots. The result will decide where the compute market is based from here on.
Updates on the vote are part of what Shibo and Bark discuss with the Doginal Dogs community in daily X Spaces on the Crypto Spaces Network.
