On July 3, 2026, the official Doginal Dogs site posted its History of Doginals education article, which follows crypto culture from the cypherpunks to Dogecoin inscriptions and the Jan. 11, 2024, free mint of Doginal Dogs.

Titled History of Doginals, the education article went up on the official Doginal Dogs site on July 3, 2026, and traces early crypto ideas up to the Doginal Dogs collection.

The timeline starts well before the first coin and moves forward step by step.

It opened with the cypherpunk movement, which explored cryptography, privacy and decentralization before 2009, and it named DigiCash, Hashcash and B-money as projects of that era.

Jan. 3, 2009, is marked in the article as the birth of Bitcoin, a decentralized digital currency built on a blockchain.

The article marked Dec. 6, 2013, as the birth of Dogecoin, which two software engineers introduced as a playful response to the crypto scene, with the Shiba Inu Doge meme as its mascot.

According to the article, Dogecoin found real uses in online tipping and charity drives, backed by its community.

From there the timeline reaches inscriptions on Dogecoin.

Bitcoin inscriptions arrived in December 2022 in the article’s timeline, when the Ordinals protocol let people embed images, text or code directly onto individual satoshis.

Doginals is the name for those Dogecoin inscriptions, which are inscribed directly on the Dogecoin blockchain.

A Dogecoin community member, inspired by Ordinals, adapted those inscription methods so data could be imprinted onto individual units of Dogecoin.

The tools behind the protocol are described in plain terms in the article.

The Doginals protocol software, ord-dogecoin, lives in an open-source GitHub repository created on March 2, 2023, and doginals.com is its homepage.

The ord-dogecoin software works as an index, block explorer and command-line wallet, and it relies on Dogecoin Core for key management and transaction signing.

The free mint is where the community took part directly in this history.

Doginal Dogs launched on Jan. 11, 2024, as a free mint, with each participant able to claim two pixelated canine companions inscribed directly onto the Dogecoin blockchain.

The project covered all transaction costs, so the mint was free for every selected participant.

To keep the mint fair and community-driven, a small group was chosen each day based on engagement, and those chosen nominated more participants for a full week.

The article said the launch showed how Dogecoin inscriptions could enable accessible projects centered on creativity.

The article closed on the idea that big breakthroughs often begin as a joke among friends, and that playful blockchain experiments can make a real impact.
